Hanzilyzer Privacy Policy
Hanzilyzer Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 2, 2026
Hanzilyzer is a Chinese dictionary and translation-help app. It is designed to work on your device and to collect as little as possible, we do not want your data.
What the app collects
Nothing, by default. Hanzilyzer has no accounts, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking. The characters and phrases you look up, the dictionary, and stroke-order data are all processed on your device.
On-device translation
The “Quick translation” feature uses Apple’s on-device Translation service. Text you translate this way is handled by Apple’s frameworks on your device according to Apple’s own policies; Hanzilyzer does not transmit it to us or anyone else.
AI interpretation (optional, only with your own API key)
Hanzilyzer’s AI interpretation feature is optional and works only if you add your own OpenAI API key in Settings.
- Your API key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. It is sent only to OpenAI to authenticate your requests, and never to us or anyone else.
- The text you interpret is sent to OpenAI (api.openai.com) to generate the interpretation. That text is handled under OpenAI’s privacy policy and API data-usage terms.
- If you never add an API key, nothing ever leaves your device via this feature.
You can delete your API key at any time in Settings (“Clear”), which removes it from the Keychain.
What we never do
- No selling of data (we have none to sell)
- No ads, no ad tracking
- No fingerprinting or cross-app tracking
- No collection of personal information from anyone, including children
Changes
If a future version of Hanzilyzer adds any data collection (for example, optional usage analytics or an optional error-report upload), this policy will be updated first, and any such feature will be disclosed in the App Store privacy label and, where it involves your lookup text, will be strictly opt-in.
